Attorney client privilege

Attorneys are independent. Their sole task is to protect the interests of their clients. Optimal protection of interests requires that those seeking legal advice entrust themselves to the attorney without reservation. 

The client-attorney privilege is protected by law through the professional secrecy obligation which the attorney is obliged to maintain towards everyone, including courts and authorities. Therefore, a client can openly discuss any matter with his attorney.
